Daring Baker's Challenge For October
What better way to ring in my second Daring Baker's Challenge than by having some neighbors over for some Bostini Cream Pie and board games? That's just what we did over the weekend and had a lot of fun doing it. I have to say that making this challenge was a lot of fun itself. I couldn't believe how many eggs I cracked for this dish, but I also realized how much I was learning and honing some important baking skills. I think this was actually my first time making custard and I'm happy to say, I didn't burn it! The Bostini Cream Pie was a lovely dessert, not to mention rich and delicious. I loved the creamy, vanilla-ness of the custard and the orange tanginess of the light chiffon cake. The chocolate topping made it even more decadent. I think my neighbors enjoyed it too. Thank-you Mary from Alpineberry for selecting a creative and pretty dessert for us this month. (If you'd like to try making a BostiniCream Pie yourself then click here and you'll be on your way)

Your Bostini looks delicious!
Hello and your Bostini Cream Pie looks very tasty! I was pretty surprised at how many eggs went into this also and I had a lot of fun putting the dessert together. There was some rereading of the recipe to make sure I had the ingredients right, at first. What a lovely weekend and relaxing =D
Shandy (Pastry Heaven)
This was definitely a dish to share with neighbours! Nicely done!
Great job on your Bostini!! It's always wonderful when it comes together without any problems!
Bostini and board games - what a great combination!
I'd say your Bostini looks flawless...beautiful job! The cake looks so light and fluffy, which is, I think, what makes a perfect chiffon. Great challenge. :-)
Bet your neighbors can't wait to come back for board games after the great job you did on the Bostinis this month!!
Dessert and board games sounds like a wicked fun night to me! Perfect!
Lovely presentation of the bostinis. Great job!

You'll be a pro before you know it! Good job on not burning the custard. I still hear a little sizzle from time to time when I make custard (I make a lot of custard). It looks great :)

That's what I did, I made the Bostinis for a family dinner and played Le Mans!

This just looks absolutely amazing!! It is sooo pretty.
I love how it looks like the bostini is peeking out from the ramekin. beautiful job!
Mmmm, your cake looks so happy and healthy in its little ramekin! It all looks tasty!
That's the trick - stun the neighbors with dessert, so they can't play board games very well! :) Great cake!
What a lovely prize after some games- Beautiful Bostini!

And having just read Julius' post, sharing this dessert with people -- LOTS of people -- is a wise choice, calorically.
Great job... beautiful cakes!!
